"I Wonder Where My Baby Is Tonight"

by the Radio Franks

Frank Bessinger, Frank Wright, and Frank Banta on piano formed a performing trio for radio broadcasts in the mid 1920s. They were quite famous for a while, and this performance gives us a sense of what they were famous for - the speeded-up tempo and "new" lyrics toward the end is the highlight of the disc. This was put on wax at the Brunswick studios in December of 1925 using freshly-minted electrical recording equipment. The song had been written by Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson (they wrote many tunes together, including the evergreen "Yes Sir That's My Baby"). The disc from which this was sampled sounds a bit "grainy", possibly due to being pressed in a hurry, but otherwise cleaned up very nicely with noise reduction.
