Written by Sam Coslow (who would later turn out such gems as "Just One More Chance" and "The Day You Came Along") and Al Sherman (co-author of "Ev'rything's Made For Love" and "On a Little Bamboo Bridge"), this obscure song was good for a laugh or two but faded
quickly when it was published in late 1922. This recording for Grey Gull in January of 1923 was one of perhaps two waxings of this song (Arthur Fields made the other one, for Fletcher Records in New York). Billy Jones, whose vocal contribution is credited to
"Billy West" on the original label (and was properly credited on this particular issue on the Silvertone label, sold through Sears, which leased masters from Grey Gull), sells this song as though it was a million-seller. Those who are easily offended by lyric content
should avoid this one, but if you are capable of placing songs like this in their proper historical context you will probably find this song amusing. The disc itself had been badly treated in its life, and several needles had to be tried before one was found that rode
the undamaged part of the groove. Noise reduction has helped to tame what noise remained.
