"Don't Wake Me Up (Let Me Dream)"

by Bob Haring and his Orchestra

A cheerful tune, written in 1925 by Abel Baer and L. Wolfe Gilbert (who together also wrote "I Miss My Swiss", "My Mother's Eyes", and "Lucky Lindy") along with Mabel Wayne (wrote the music to "It Happened in Monterey" and "In a Little Spanish Town"), which was recorded enough times to be considered a minor hit. This version on the Cameo label, recorded on December 23 of that same year, is a characteristically lively rendition which makes use of several key changes depending on which solo instrument is playing. The trumpet solo at the end, though short, is the highlight of the record. This record got played a lot, and was not well treated as the first few grooves show (the bad part is only for the first 15 seconds, then it gets much better). Noise reduction has made this a listenable sample for your enjoyment.
