"Waitin' For The Moon"

by the Tennessee Happy Boys

Harry Reser was one of the few banjo-playing bandleaders, and listening to records like this makes you wonder why there weren't more of them. Sheer entertainment value here on this side, waxed at Edison Labs on May 25, 1925. The tune was written by Sam Lerner (known for writing the song "Popeye The Sailor Man") and Joe Brown (not known for anything). There's a little bit of rumble in this disc occasionally, but overall this is a nice clean sample. (More samples of Harry Reser's various bands can be heard at the Red Hot Jazz Archive.)
