Most of Rae Ball's records for Edison were light classical "dinner music", musically uninteresting but apparently sold quite well in their time, but this self-composed ditty is a delightful exception, waxed for Edison Labs on
September 21 of 1923. It is a joyous recording, played with a capricious spirit, and is downright infectious. The middle part sounds more like the typical Rae Eleanor Ball record, lingers there just long enough, then returns to
the joyful jig. I don't know if Ms. Ball recorded any more tunes like this, but I don't think she did (email to the contrary is welcome). The surface of this Edison disc was in good condition, needing only rumble removal and not
much else.
