Another nostalgic air from the 20's, that is to say it was written in the 20's (by Abner Silver, Saul Bernie and Howard Christy) and it was itself nostalgic. Though it was not a huge hit, the tune was popular enough to merit at least two issues on
phonograph record - the "Congo Four" on Edison, and this version by one of the "house bands" at Cameo on January 6 of 1925. The arrangement throws in snatches of other melodies, such as "My Old Kentucky Home" and "Old Folks At Home", and the band keeps
it moving along in a jazzy direction very nicely. The banjo and trumpet breaks toward the end are standouts. This particular copy got played a lot, on some unforgiving equipment, and there is a lot of hard wear in the beginning as a result. The resulting
sample is improved with noise reduction, though this is a good example of not being able to work "miracles" with software - it's not like new, but it is a lot better, and certainly worth the effort.
