Two of the players from the "Georgia Yellow Hammers" teamed up for a set of acoustically recorded Brunswick sides in April of 1925, and this was one of them. It was probably recorded using remote gear, and not in the regular
studio, since the vocal is so predominant relative to the instruments. It's a great tune, though, probably written by the fiddler Bud Landress (the label lists no composer). The disc itself is remarkably clean, probably played
once and put away, and just needed an easy once-over to tame some stray groove noise. (Further samples of the Chitwood-Landress sides on Brunswick can be heard at the
