Besides the name "Royal Troubadors," credit was also given to "Fenwyck's Novelty Orchestra" or the "Hilltop Inn Orchestra" depending on the issuing label. It could have been Ben Selvin, Harry Reser, or Will Craeger's band
that recorded this side on October 4 of 1926 (knowledgeable emails are welcome). Originally issued on Gennet, with the "electrobeam" recording process, it was also issued on Champion and marketed through the Sears-Roebuck
catalog on the Challenge label. It features the recognizeable vocalizing of Arthur Fields and some very tricky ensemble flute passages toward the end. The tune was written by Hal Keidel (co-author of "Hi-Diddle-Diddle"
and "Oh What a Marvelous Gal") with Ted Fiorito (bandleader and co-author of "Toot-Toot-Tootsie Goodbye" and "Charley My Boy"). This particular record was heavily damaged by multiple playings, and probably wasn't that great
a pressing to begin with, so noise reduction was used to tame the worst of it. It's not perfect, but a lot better.
