Helen Trix was chiefly known as one-half of the Trix Sisters, Helen and Josephine, but she performed and recorded as a solo act before that. This Edison cylinder dates from February of 1907, and is one of seven songs she recorded
for them. She conveys this "saucy" song about a slight lack of communication, between a Nebraskan boy and Parisian girl, with a brisk vitality and loses none of the words in the process. (Thanks to Sterling Morris for providing me with
some information about this obscure yet delightful entertainer.) The surface of this cylinder is nearly perfect, except for some groove damage at the very beginning which may have been caused by someone trying to play this record with
a 4-minute machine, and needed very little noise reduction treatment. (More cylinders by Helen Trix can be heard at the compendious
UCSB Special Collection.)
