Vocalion had a recording studio in New Orleans in the late 20s, to record local artists who wouldn't get a chance to make records otherwise, and Bud Harrison made the first four sides at that studio in February of 1929:
this was the second of that four. His style was definitely influenced by the "Blue Yodel" series of records that Jimmie Rodgers waxed for Victor. The performance is spirited, fun, and certainly worth listening past the
noise: the first few seconds are the worst, and it gets better after that. This record was among a stack of heavily-played country and blues discs I acquired, and the condition was as near to "poor" as anything I've ever
posted here, but with repeated scratch removal and noise reduction this side is now more listenable.
