No, this is not the Tuxedo Syncopators of 1930, but of eleven years earlier. "Linger Longer Letty" was a musical which opened on Broadway in 1919 and had a very successful run. One hit from this musical, "Oh By Jingo", was recorded dozens
of times while the title tune (written by a young Al Goodman) from that same musical didn't get much exposure. This is one of the few recorded performances of this tune, done for Pathé disc in August of 1919, by a group of studio musicians that sounds
like it may include George Hamilton Green on xylophone and Rudy Weidhoft on tenor sax. The button-down conservative arrangement, though uninspiring, lets the tune shine through and it's actually rather catchy. The fidelity of this disc is
quite good for the vintage, but the typical Pathé surface noise was difficult to tame - careful noise reduction has helped bring the music out of the mud.
