"Irish Reels - Medley No. 2"

by Dan Carroll and Mario Perry

Fiddler Dan Carrol and accordionist Mario Perry turn up the tempo just a little on this lively medley recorded for Brunswick in August of 1922. They had recorded their first medley in May of that year, with reels on one side and jigs on the other, and it was popular enough for them to come back and record another pairing. The reels they play are as follows: "Guilderoy," "Straight Reel Jig," "Harvest Home," "McDonald's Reel," "College Hornpipe," and "Some Distance from Prussia Reel." The sound is brash and vital and the musicianship first-rate. The disc from which this has been sampled wasn't too heavily worn so noise reduction was only used lightly.
