The bandleader, otherwise known as Lou Gold, was one of the more prolific baton wavers for the Plaza record group. Some of his material has been reissued on CD (check out the details at
"Amazon.com") but this side is still obscure. This version was recorded in March of 1927. The more famous version of this
tune was made by Jean Goldkette's band with a young Bix Beiderbecke in the trumpet section. The song was written by Joe Goodwin (co-author of "They're Wearing 'em Higher in Hawaii" and "When You're Smiling"), Paul Ash
(bandleader for Brunswick, co-wrote "Just Once Again" and "What Do We Care if it's One O'Clock"), and Billy Baskette (also wrote "Waitin' For the Evenin' Mail" and "Everybody Wants a Key to My Cellar"). The personnel is
unknown, and intelligent email is welcome on this subject. The disc had been played some but there was still some life in it. A little bit of noise reduction plus some EQ has helped to bring this side back to life.
