Written by Abel Baer (co-author of "Lucky Lindy"), Benee Russell (co-wrote "You Didn't Want Me When You Had Me"), and Ira Schuster (wrote songs for decades, including "Did You Ever Get That Feeling In The Moonlight") in 1927, this was a big enough hit to have
been recorded by most labels. This was the version released on the Perfect label, released about November in that same year, and it's a nice dance tune. Pianist Willard Robison, if he is present on this side at all, provides rhythm accompaniment only and takes
no solo - his name was lent to studio orchestras fairly frequently during the late 20s, probably because he organized the sessions. Vocalist Joe Sherman was not close enough to the microphone, given the character of his voice, but he puts in a decent performance
for the era. The ensemble work in the saxophone section after the key change is amazing - it's a highlight of the recording. The disc itself was scratch-free, though there was lots of "hiss" in the grooves and it took a good amount of noise reduction to bring
the music out from behind it.
