One doesn't expect an acoustic disc to have much bass response, but this one is a delightful exception. Recorded by American Records in 1906, and released on the Peerless label, this particular example was issued as a demonstration record for early
phonographs. The tune, written by J. Bodewalt Lampe and based on a German folk song (as one could tell from the title), was recorded many times on both disc and cylinder. There's some needle-wear on this example, but other than that it plays well.
