Another in what must have been a very popular series of Vaudeville sketches on Edison 2-minute cylinder - this one recorded approximately April of 1907. Jones and Spencer recorded dozens of different sketches for Edison Labs, and despite the script's heavy dose of corn (as
well as pandering to racial stereotypes) the innocent charm of this performance is unweathered by time. The sound effects in the middle are especially entertaining. I had a copy of this cylinder decades ago, which broke, and it took me almost thirty years to
find another copy. This one's got some wear in the louder parts, which is difficult to "fix" with noise reduction, but it plays through nicely and the rest of the surface is relatively quiet.
