"Gigolo"

by the Roving Romeos

The label on this Romeo release says the band is called, "the Roving Romeos", but the vocal strains of Tom Stacks give it away: this is Harry Reser's orchestra recording under a psuedonymn. The recording was waxed on November 6 of 1926 and was issued on both the Romeo and Cameo labels. It's a bouncy tune, suffering a little from the distortion coming from the prototypical electric recording equipment, but the disc surface is clean allowing for a rim chip making the first few grooves unplayable. The song sounds a little off-color for a man to be singing it (in fact, these lyrics could win a "silly song" contest anytime), but still it's a fun record.
