After Edison's initial experiment with having both an instrumental and a vocal version of the same song on one side (separated by a band of silence), they revised their approach slightly to provide a musical bridge between the two so that there would be no
interruption of the program. This is an example of the later approach, with the instrumental portion in the first two minutes and the full vocal version (sung by Arthur Hall) in the second two minutes, and it worked much better. Abel Green (later the
editor-in-chief of "Variety" - more info can be found at Simesite) and Jesse Greer (co-wrote "Freshie" and "Just You Just Me") wrote this song in late 1924, and it was recorded at Edison
Labs on February 17, 1925. The lyrics sound like some kind of real-estate commercial, but the tune is good and the musicians present it well. The surface was very clean and needed only the most casual of noise reduction applied.
