One of many tunes that this trio recorded at Edison Labs, all sounding pretty much alike but in a good way, this was put on wax on March 22 of 1923. The recording technique used for this group was unique, fairly bottom-heavy
for an acoustic recording and very close on the sax, must have been used to demonstrate the lifelike quality of the Edison machine at dealerships. The tune was written by Will Collins, Ed Cameron and Buddy Fields who only seem
to have written this one song together in 1922; it was a fairly substantial hit, with Paul Whiteman recording it for Victor and every other label having a version in their catalog by the middle of 1923. The disc from which this
sample came had only been played a few times, was well taken care of, and only needed rumble removed.
