Otherwise known as Ernest Hare, disguised as a tramp for his radio appearances during the early Depression years, this VelvetTone recording from November 25th of 1929 capitalized on the then-current trend of "bum songs"
that Harry McClintock made famous (he can be heard singing "The Big Rock Candy Mountain" in the opening minutes of the movie "Brother Where Art Thou"). It was written by Edward Lee and James Mullan, who also wrote the song
"Yodelin' Mad" (James Mullen can be heard singing the song himself here). This disc had a lot of bass frequencies on it, and an acoustic
phonograph had played it once or twice back in the day, so there was lots of crackle to take care of. Enough noise reduction has been applied to take care of that.
