In October of 1905, when this style of singing wasn't nostalgia yet, Columbia gathered their in-house male quartet around the horn and recorded this example of Barbershop harmony. The tune was written by Charles Bennett
(who also wrote "Send Papa Home Tonight" that same year). According to this page at Houston Community College, the
personnel on this record is Albert Campbell on high tenor, Henry Burr on lead, Tom Daniels singing bass and Steve Porter in the baritone chair. The record had been played quite a lot, but there was one part of the groove that
still gave a decent sample so that is what you'll hear.
