This pleasant but obscure song from 1919 was written by three obscure songwriters - Elmer Floyd (words), Al Glaser (music), and Otto Matzen (co-author). It seems to have been recorded five times: twice for Columbia (
Nora Bayes sang a full-length version, Sam
Lanin's "Kentucky Serenaders" incorporated it into a medley), Victor (Selvin's Novelty Orch.), Okeh (Knecht's Waldorf-Astoria Orch.), and this version for Pathe in November of 1919. During this period every dance tune had a tendency to sound like Paul Whiteman's
"Whispering". Joseph Samuels, who recorded for many labels during the early 20's, was true to that trend here. The vocal is by Lewis James who recorded for many labels during the late 'teens. The record itself was reasonably well preserved, so there was only the
normal Pathe disc noise to deal with and that cleaned up nicely.
